Hate Date by JediAnnSolo Hate Date by JediAnnSolo
This is about an afternoon's worth of work, but it was stretched to almost a week because... hey, life.
My style has grown a lot over time-- I can't believe that two years ago I would have been scared to draw a picture like this. Limbs in motion, cloth folds, fire, convincing grime, HEELS, ect. And yet I still have so much to learn.

THE "POPCORN" PICTURE WAS SUPPOSED TO COME BEFORE THIS, JEDI. Well, "Popcorn"-- while a much smaller file size, was a little more busy than this picture, so I decided to post this finished work first. And it was finished first because I wanted a new desktop wallpaper. :P

I don't know which one was sick and tired of the other, but whoever it was, started this mess. Then regretted it. Sandy lost a shoe and Shadow lost his temper. The people on the nearby tables are scooting away and the waiters are too nervous to intervene. How will it end?! D:

I don't think her skirt is flared out enough for him to see anything (especially in a dark room), but it's still a funny observation. XD I didn't mean to make him look like he was trying peek somewhere.

I really like this. I'm in a hurry and can't look long, but it's great. I love the grime on the cloth and plate as well as the cloth folds. Can't do that well yet myself. I like how Shadow's right sleeve is too long; at first I thought it was a mistake but then saw his jacket wasn't on right. I missed that detail initially in my quick look.

The awesome. I'd critique it but I can't even do this yet. My SuperMilo comic was recently critiqued by Ian Flynn of Sonic the Hedgehog, by the way. Didn't do so well. Also didn't get the job I was trying to apply, lol.

Aw, thanks. Yeah, job hunting is tough now. I thought I had a chance working for Archie comics so I thought I'd jump the shark and apply now instead of when I knew I was ready. Couldn't hurt to try. I mean, no one else is hiring and I can't do outrageous muscle tones and realistic humans that Marvel or DC would require. I met Ian Flynn, Matt Hermes, and several other talents who work on the Sonic the Hedgehog book at Heroes Con in 2009 (I was both shocked and encouraged to find that Matt Hermes, an excellent artist on the book, is younger than I). I spoke about applying in the future. So I recently got back in touch with Ian Flynn. He told me what I already knew but didn't want to consider in my desperation for a job - I still need a lot of training. He said that I need to draw from bone structure and anatomy instead of by practice. That and I need to build up my portfolio. Since most of my comics are newspaper strip format he failed to realized that I could do more (but that's my fault). Oh well.

Sorry for replying so darn late-- I've been away. I'm also struggling with the unemployment blues, but I've received so much love and support from my friends and family. I've taken a break from AGENCY to create the album art for a friend's band. $100 doesn't seem like much, but it pays the uh... brings the bacon for a week. :) Little by little things are looking up and I pray that the same goes for you, Will.

Oh, hey, thanks! Yeah, I noticed AGENCY slowed down a bit (or maybe I just got busy). I cashed in a piggy bank (actually it was a giant Garfield-shaped container) I had been storing loose change in for years and got 255 dollars recently. That lasted me about a week, week and a half. :'( lol. Hope things pick up for you too, Annie. Last commission job I got the employers pulled out when I was trying to get them to agree on a price and sign a contract after I started working a little on their piece, and the one before that screwed me out of my money at the end and gave me a T-shirt and a burger. I'll never trust community colleges again, ha ha ha... You get a lot of commission/contract work?

Oh, geez. Absolutely not. This was my first offline design job in a long time and only one person has asked for a picture when I opened commissions in DA two months ago. Everything's just going sloooow.

I'd really love to commission you, heck if I could afford it I'd have YOU drawing SuperMilo, ha ha ha... But I can't. :'( lol. But I'm still interested in commissioning you for some SuperMilo book cover art or etc in the future. Just hoping to get employed soon. :-) But I know how commission work goes. My experiences are far and few in between as well.

They've had a little too much wine, it seems x3. I mean, they're so OoC, what with Sandy in heels and make-up, and holding a butter knife while Shadow is taking a sneeky-peeky up a place he shouldn't be looking and showing some shirt.

I think this must be your best work yet, JediAnn.

C'mon, Shadow, you look mad, but you're obviously trying to hide the fact that you're looking under Sandy's skirt.

Kidding. Nice job drawing their poses and details on their cloths.
